Re: Online chat with expert

Hey Walaa,

I should be able to point you in the right direction, but I need some additional information from you first. What is your budget? Will you be photographing these insects at a distance or close up? What will the lighting be like (i.e. daytime or nighttime/inside or outside...)? How big and small will the insect you are capturing be?

Thanks,

Re: Online chat with expert

Hey Walaa,

So photographing insects is part of Macro Photography, and the equipment used for Macro Photography is often very expensive. A typical Macro Photography system that would shoot professional insect photographs indoors would include a higher end DSLR, a specialized Macro Photography lens, and professional lighting equipment. This type of system is going to run around $5,000.

Since your budget is $400 I went a different way on this. I have heard that the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70 Point-and-Shoot and the Olympus Tough TG-5 Point-and-Shoot cameras are very good at Macro Photography. They are slightly over your budget, but not by much. I would suggest trying one of these camera. Also they both have dedicated Macro Photography modes, and make sure you put them in this mode before shooting these bees and larvae.

Thanks,

Re: Online chat with expert

As mentioned by Best Buy's Experts the better way to go is with a DSLR setup.  However you can get some decent results with other cameras.

I took the attached photo with a Canon Elph. from a few inces away on the MACRO settingCapture.PNG
