I am looking for options on Photo Organzing Software. Freeware preferred.
My fathter discovered photography at the age of 74. Now 11 years later he averages some 7000+ photos a year.
I got him started on Picassa initally and at the time I really liked it as organizing and basic editing were pretty good. Now Picassa is developing more towards being designed for people that want save photos on the cloud and is not as friendly anymore for basic organizing.
My first thought is to buy him PaintShop Pro.

Hi there, bobberuchi,
To be honest, I don't have much experience using photo editing software; however, my stepmom has her own photography studio and she swears that PaintShop Pro is one of the easiest programs to use, particularly so for its organizational capabilities. The program also comes highly recommended by our reviewers and is on sale right now, so in my mind, it's definitely the way to go.
I hope this helps,

It is not so much for editing as organizing. All he does right now is crop
I actually found you can download older versions of Paint Shop yet for free. I am going to play around with it and get a trial version of Pro. In reality it is dirt cheap at only $64
I have CS2 that I still use that I purchased as a student and it works really good. But $$$$

Went back to Paint Shop Pro when Adobe Photoshop went to the cloud based sub. I dont trust the cloud setup Adobe uses. PSP can also use PS plug ins also.
As for storage and organizing, I just use a home server and save to folders by categories, customer, date, etc.
