I didn't know where place this subject so that Best Buy would see this, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place:
When will Best Buy carry this lens. It was just released in November 2009. The great financing that Best Buy has to offer will attract a lot more customers like me. Please, please, make it happen : ) it will be a dream come true. Has anyone else besides me place the same message?

I'd say not likely, that's a HIGHLY specialized item. I'm sure you can find other financing options compatible with the "big boys" in the photography business. (I'm speaking mainly of two establishments in NYC, for which "if they don't carry it, it probably doesn't exist" for photography equipment applies.)

Best Buy carries this lens Nikon - Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Telephoto Lens which also has the same price $2,269.99 and is a professional type lens. Best Buy is one of Nikon's dealer, I hope they'll bring it. I don't not understand why they will not because they use to carry the old version of the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR three-four months ago wih a price tag in the 2k range.

They MIGHT carry it Online only since it is such a specialized lens. From personal experience working in that department the number of people buying DSLR's are slim, and the number of people buying lenses is even slimmer so the number of people dropping $2k on a lens is hardly if ever seen. Also keep in mind that 0% for 18 months was for the holiday season only.

Hi ckcheng,
I have heard nothing but great things to say about the new Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 ED with VRII, and I can completely understand you wanting to purchase this lens. This is a professional quality lens, and as such the demand for it would be much less than a normal consumer level lens. With that being said you are correct that we do carry a small assortment of professional lenses, and you are also correct that we did at one time carry the predecessor to this lens.
I have passed your desire to purchase this lens onto the team that would have be responsible for making the arrangements necessary to add this to our inventory. I am sending you a private message to pass along some information on this, and to check your messages you should log into the forum; then click on the letter icon in upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thanks for posting,

Allan,
I am also interested in whether or not Best Buy will carry this item. Thanks!

did you know that W-lmrt is carrying this lens?, their financing is 12 months. Best Buy carries this lens Canon - L-Series 400mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto EF Lens for Canon EOS Digital Cameras with a price tag of $7,999.99, they should carry the Nikon 70-200mm VRII too!. I'm also still waiting. I hope by that time, the threading issues with it would be fixed.

Thanks. So you haven't heard anything since the response above? I may look into the "other store" deal, although I really don't want to open another credit line. Still 12 months is a pretty good deal... Seems like adding this Nikkor would be an ideal fit into Best Buy's "online only" lens catalog.

Hi ckcheng,
I agree that it doesn't seem to make sense that we would carry the Canon - L-Series 400mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto EF Lens that sells for $7999.99, and not carry this lens. Unfortunately it is not always cost effective for us to carry a particular lens. My best guess would be that being that this lens is a very new offering from Nikon, and as a professional level lens we aren't able to get this lens from the manufacturer at a price that would allow us to provide this lens at a competitive price to our customers. This does not mean that we will not be carrying this lens in the future, but at this time it will not be part of our DSLR lens assortment.
Thanks,

W'Mart here I come! It's a shame that from a purchasing standpoint BB is unable to obtain this lens from the manufacturer at a strong enough price to be able to sell it at a competitive price. The reference above to the pricey Canon Lens is just one of the many "high-end" offerings that BB carries from Canon. Must have a better relationship with them, they do have printers, paper and I think still make camcorders as well. Bigger footprint to cover more BB customer needs = better price from the manufacturer.
