Hello;

I could use some help from the experts on here - I am a trainer who travels around the world.  In every class I use a variety of flip, and other cameras to record my classes in either 2-4-8-12 hour blocks.

I have broken, damaged, destroyed every one I have had to I stopped recording them and need to start up again.  Can you help me and suggest the best camera for this - what I need it to do is below.

• plug in lapel mic
• Durable - drop proof
• Water proof
• Ability of Zoom in and out
• Slow Motion
• No delay for stop and start features
• Remote operated if possible
• Hard its own hard drive of 32 gig
• Support flash cards of 64 gig flash card for continuous recording
• Take picture - in single and sequence high and low speed
• Control resolution
• Control light settings
• Motion stabilizer
• ability to adjust and control audio - wind and boom control
• Side viewing screen
• Extra battery
• Tripod capable

Am I missing any other features to look for and thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Armatraining,

It sounds like what you need is a DSLR, and not an entry level one. I would suggest the Nikon D7100 or the Canon EOS 7D mark II.

Hmm.... those DSLR's are nice.  But not waterproof and shockproof.

I see two, possibly three, cameras will be need to meet his requirements.

I think a high end camcorder for general use.  And a GoPro for more rugged conditions.

Thank you for your reply but was hoping that he person replying from Best buy would have reviewed my question and directed me to the best recommendation that met all of my requirements or tell me your crazy we do not have one that does that instead of recommending high priced cameras that would not have perform as I needed and brake very quickly when using it which would directly efect my job performance.

Is there someone else from Best Buy who can best direct me?

I guess I could have been more thorough in my response. I did read through your needs before responding and there just isn't one camera/camcorder that meets your needs. I felt an enthusiast level DSLR came closest to covering your needs. The response you got from xl is also a good suggestion.

From reading your initial post it sounded like durability was one of your main concerns, and very few cameras produce great result while still standing the test of time; this is especially true when the camera/camcorder is being used on a daily basis. One of the main reasons professional equipment cost much more than consumer products is because they are built to last. A professional can't have their equipment break in the middle of an assignment. Although an enthusiast DSLR is not quite a professional camera, they are fairly close in build quality.

If durability is your only concern then yes a GoPro would be the right choice. The GoPro doesn't have zoom. It doesn't have a built in hard drive, and to be honest only camcorders come with built-in hard drives (most have moved away from this since flash memory is so affordable now).

I still feel an enthusiast level DSLR will meet your needs the best, and there really isn't a product that I'm aware of that meets all your needs in one package.

I have to admit, I don't pay much attention to JVC products.  When JVC cameras came out about a decade ago, the plastic housing was very fragile and image quality couldn't match Sony.

At this time, I think it may be the best choice.  If you do get this camera, I recommend you post a quick review of your experiences.
