Hi Everyone, I need some advice for a SLR camera purchase. I'm a huge Sony guy and have narrowed down my two camera's I'm considering. I'm looking at the new Sony A6000 and the older Sony a65. I just need some insight on these two models. I know quite a bit about the A6000 and it's newer, however it looks like the a65 has very similar specs just a bit older, and cheaper!
The two models clearly have two very different designs and I liked the NEX-6 quite a bit when I tried it out as a demo. Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated from any user. My Best Buy store doesn't carry any Sony SLR's only the NEX / mirrorless alpha line. I'd like to make a purchase sooner rather than later. Thanks in advance!

Some thoughts....

Hey vaan285,
For me the decision would really be based on what your needs are. Do you need a portable camera? Will you be carrying this with you every day or almost every day? What type of subjects do you anticipate shooting?
The A6000 is a newer camera, but it is not a DSLR; it does have a faster processer, but its auto-focus system will not be nearly as fast as the A65's autofocus system. The A65 has a built-in image stabilization while the A6000 does not.
Overall I like the A65, but it really is pretty close. For me it would basically be a question if I needed a portable camera that can take superior photos, or a not so portable camera that has a slightly better feature set with equally great end results.
Thanks,

thanks for the info, i plan to use the camera outside/inside, during the day, take pics of moving vehicles/parked cars and nature.
i've always strictly been a sony guy, the a65 was very attractive with it's price but i know it's a couple of years old. if you have any further recommendations that would be great. i'd like to either get the a6000, the a65 or a58. i also plan to use apeture on my Mac for photo editing.
i know the a58 has some lower specs than the a65 but anything you can tell me would be awesome.

Here's something else to consider.... what lens do you plan to use?
When you visit the stores...check the lens zoom range. Many of the 18-55mm kit lenses are too limiting for some. If you plan to get additional lenses... think about your budget.

Hey vaan285,
After further research I believe the a6000 might just be the camera that would meet your particular needs. I have replied to your private message with what I found out.
Thanks,
