Canon 50D vs T2i HELP!!

I have the XSI 12.2 now .I am looking to upgrade I do mostly portraits and modeling also newborn and baby photography. I do alot of enlargments mainly 16x20. From what I understand the more MP's the better the quality of your enlargements. Thats where Im torn I am impressed with the new T2i and its 18MP!! I also have been wanting to advance and get the 50D with 15 MP.  I guess my question is will the T2i take better photos and enlargements than the 50D bc of the MP difference. Is it a drastic difference? Is the 50D worth the extra $300.

Also I know the 50D as been out for a while, is canon coming out with a newer version soon. I dont want to buy the 50D and a month later a more updated model releases.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody!

Check reviews...
More megapixels is not always better, increased pixel density can sometimes lead to reduced noise performance.
There's also the issue of whether the other features present in the 50D and not in the T2i are more important than the T2i's extra pixels.
I haven't heard any big news from Canon lately in the midrange DSLR arena, but you never know.  Nothing was announced at PMA or CP+ to my knowledge, next "big" event where announcements usually occur is Photokina in September, but sometimes products get announced midyear.  They're kind of due for an upgrade in that region since video has been added to Canon's DSLRs both above and below the 50D in price range.

Re: Canon 50D vs T2i HELP!!

Entropy is correct about pixel density and little difference between 15-18 mega pixels.  Where the 50D would be better is in the body construction which is weather sealed magnesium alloy as opposed to plastic.  Also 50D has a brighter viewfinder which is always beneficial in studio or location shooting.  Finally, glass not mega pixels will deliver your image quality.  The 28-125mm USM lens which comes with 50D is superior to 18-55 zoom on T1i.  If you are getting body only then alternative Canon lens like the 24-105 f2.8 would be a very good lens equivalent to a 38-168mm on a 35mm camera which would take you from full length to close up very nicely.  There are many prime  lenses that are good candidates as well.

Whoops sorry 24-105 is an f 4.0 no 2.8 but still a great lens.  Prime 85mm f1.8 or 50mm f1.8 are good contenders as well.
