The D5200 is a newer camera and has more megapixels. It's got a flippin screen.
The D7000 is a prosumer camera with an auto-focus motor for cheaper AF-D lenses

For me there is no question I would rather have the D7000 over the D5200 any day. The D5200 is a standard consumer level DSLR while the D7000 is a prosumer DSLR that is built to last.
