For two weeks now, the Sunday Best Buy ad says the Canon 50D shoots HD video. Is this right? All of my research indicates that it has an HDMI output for showing stills on an HDTV, but no mention of recording in HD. Can someone clear this up?
Your research is correct. The Canon 50D DSLR camera does not have the ability to shoot HD video, and in fact can't record any type of video. The Canon 50D does have an HDMI output that allows the camera to display its still images on an HDTV. There is one DSLR on the market that does shoot HD video, and that is the Nikon D90. I would like to thank you in pointing out an error in our weekly ad, and I have passed along your concern to get it corrected.
