Suicide Squad 1.JPG

Three years ago the citizens of the world learned that we aren’t  alone in the universe when the Man of Steel was brought out of the shadows to face a warrior from his home world, General Zod. Less than a year ago Superman met the Batman. I guess you could say they hit it off. Despite a rocky start, they banded together to defeat Lex Luthor’s science/anatomy project gone wrong. Batman also met Diana Prince, a warrior queen from another civilization. In finding her Bruce’s eyes were opened to a world of super-powered beings living here on earth.

And now into this world we meet some of the bad guys that have never had their day in the sun.  Amanda Waller, head of a covert government agency, puts together a team comprised of the best of the worst. Assassins like Deadshot, Katana, and Slipknot. A burglar who specializes in the use of boomerangs, aptly named Captain Boomerang. People with special powers or abilities like Enchantress, el Diablo, and Killer Croc. Throw in a psychopath with a P.H. D. in one Harley Quinn and you’ve got the Suicide Squad.

Reviews have already started pouring in, and they are decidedly mixed. Some rave at the new approach to a comic book movie. Others worry that it is more of the same from DC with lots of angst and little depth. I personally don’t buy into early reviews. I will go see it, optimistic that I’ll have an enjoyable theater experience.  Good or bad, early estimates are already suggesting a record-breaking opening weekend for these unconventional heroes. Get your own squad together and be a part of it.

See Suicide Squad in theaters today, and catch up on the origins of DC’s new expanded universe by watching Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Just went to see it last night.  Being a fan of the original comic book series, I really enjoyed seeing the characters brought to the big screen.  Not a deep movie by any stretch, but plenty of great action and for fans of the comic, quite a few little easter eggs to be found.

Margot Robbie nailed Harley Quinn totally, best part of the movie by far!
