Valentine’s day has always been my favorite holiday. I love the store displays in my favorite colors and the heart shaped boxes of candy, but as I’ve grown up the part I love most is finding creative ways to have fun with my loved ones.
As a homebody, I prefer a romantic night in over a night on the town. Here’s some of my ideas on how to have the perfect date night at home!
A quick and easy way to create a romantic snack is with this Rachel Ray Fondue Set. It’s even in red to set the mood. Whether you and your love prefer chocolate or cheese, there are a plethora of options to match up with either flavor. I prefer sweet, so traditionally I pair chocolate with fruit, but angel cake can be a delicious addition as well. If you prefer savory, cheese fondue goes well with bread, pretzels, or even veggies. As a child I was given a small fondue kit for Valentine’s day, so I’m very excited to try this grown up version and make fondue night a new tradition.
Want to impress your sweetheart with a delicious meal, but don’t want to spend your whole Valentine’s day in the kitchen? The Ninja Instant Cooker is here to help! When I first heard about pressure cookers I was a bit worried I wouldn’t be able to figure it out, but their easy-to-use guide made it simple to understand and even included fun recipe ideas. Not only can it be used as a pressure cooker, but also as a crock pot, steamer and to sauté. The Ninja Instant Cooker makes meal time a lot more convenient, and with the variety of options available you’re sure to make a Valentine’s day dinner to remember.
Part of a great night in is finding a movie you both can snuggle up and enjoy. While romantic comedies are my favorite, I know that isn’t the case for my boyfriend. That said, there are a few classics we can always agree on.
50 First Dates is the perfect date night movie as it warms your heart and screen with it’s beautiful backdrop in Hawaii, as well as keeps you laughing the whole time. It’s the touching story of a man meeting his dream girl, only to discover she suffers short term memory loss (think Dory from Finding Nemo but played by the charming Drew Barrymore) and doesn’t remember him the next day.
Ryan Reynolds’ plays an adorable dad in Definitely, Maybe, telling his daughter the story of the three big loves of his life. The twist? She doesn’t know which of the stories is about him and her mom and has to figure it out. It’s a great tale that covers love in its many forms and keeps you coming back for story time again and again.
Whether your Valentine is a significant other, friend, family member or an adorable furry companion, I’m sure you’ll have fun because you’re spending time with someone you care about. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Valentine’s day!
