T-MINUS FOUR DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!

Holiday season is, and has been, in full swing. Shoppers are gathering last-minute gifts, Christmas cookies have been decorated, and countless calls have been made to organize family gatherings.

All this prep work plus more has been done for Christmas, and it wasn’t even winter yet.

Say, whaaaaat?

Today officially marks the first day of winter, which seems crazy considering it has felt like winter for the past month now. Especially for us lucky ones in the North who have been scraping ice off their windshields, navigating slippery roads, and shoveling sidewalks for over the past month now. But that’s beside the point.

Celestron - NexStar 90SLT Maksutov-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope - BlackWinter officially begins with the Winter Solstice. Which means today is the shortest day of the year and has the fewest hours of sunlight. I know this doesn’t help when you’re trying to do a million things in a day during the busiest week, but on the bright side (get it? 😉), the Full Cold Moon will appear tonight and tomorrow night. This is December’s full moon, and you don’t want to miss it, since the next one to peak on the Winter Solstice won’t be until 2094. Also, there is a chance the annual Ursid meteor shower can be spotted. The Celestron Cometron 114AZ 450mm Newtonian Reflector Telescope gives you an amazing look at the moon in full detail as well as other celestial objects. The same goes for the NexStar 90SLT Maksutov-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope, which offers crystal clarity with its optical design while its software lets you use your computer to control the telescope. You also can’t go wrong with other models such as the Celestron PowerSeeker 70EQ Refractor Telescope or the Celestron Travel Scope 70 Portable Telescope.

Sightmark Ghost Hunter 5x60 Night Vision MonocularAfter you’re done with work today you probably need to run a few more errands, whether that’s to grab gifts for family and friends, cleaning supplies because you realize your in-laws are going to be invading your home soon, or groceries for the quickly approaching Christmas dinner. So don’t be alarmed when you step outside and realize it’s dark out. But, don’t fret because you could grab the Sightmark Ghost Hunter 5x60 Night Vision Monocular to easily navigate your way to every stop on your to-do list. This might seem extreme, but we all know that some people go all out for the holidays.

Whether you’re taking a moment to enjoy the beautiful night sky tonight or charging your way through the darkness to squeeze in a few more errands, know that there’s only 89 days of winter left! A lot of Northerners are currently rolling their eyes at that fact.

Happy Holidays!
