T-MINUS FOUR DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!

Holiday season is, and has been, in full swing. Shoppers are gathering last-minute gifts, Christmas cookies have been decorated, and countless calls have been made to organize family gatherings.

All this prep work plus more has been done for Christmas, and it wasn’t even winter yet.

Say, whaaaaat?

Today officially marks the first day of winter, which seems crazy considering it has felt like winter for the past month now. Especially for us lucky ones in the North who have been scraping ice off their windshields, navigating slippery roads, and shoveling sidewalks for over the past month now. But that’s beside the point.

Winter officially begins with the Winter Solstice. Which means today is the shortest day of the year and has the fewest hours of sunlight. I know this doesn’t help when you’re trying to do a million things in a day during the busiest week, but on the bright side (get it? 😉), the Full Cold Moon will appear tonight and tomorrow night. This is December’s full moon, and you don’t want to miss it, since the next one to peak on the Winter Solstice won’t be until 2094. Also, there is a chance the annual Ursid meteor shower can be spotted.
