shipping dishonesty

this is a modified repost. I have no idea why it's getting taken down.

This is a repost. Rather than contact me to resolve this, BB deleted my post. You can FEEEL the high quality customer service. But let me re-type the whole thing from a photo I took...

...Regarding a phone... I could have picked it up, but it sayd 2 day shipping and I was like great, this will keep me off the roads a bit longer while I try and fix my house.

So, that time has come and passed. UPS ALL OVER their w says there are delays due to this weather. Their customer service can offer no estimate, just "we'll have to see what happens on Monday," Day 4. Now you may be thinking who cares, adn I agree, compared to my house being damaged, us nearly freezing to death, people not having any water to drink, and people actually dying, this is not a big deal. But I am sick of the.... everything. I'm sick of giving people money and having them dissapoint me by not coming up with their end of the bargain.

If UPS has it ALL OVER their website that they can't deliver packages, why was this not a warning on your website? You certainly had the forknowledge. UPS has an excuse, in a way, they physically can't move the package. But YOU working closely with teh shipper (who was blinded to me) certainly should have known there would be shipping delays and informed the consumer of that. I suspect you just wanted to sell more stuff and didn't care. Well, I care. And I'm angry about it.

Re: shipping dishonesty

This situation in your area is unfortunate, I lived thru a similar situation in new Orleans a few years back. That being said, large business don't use UPS's web site to ship packages. UPS sends a truck evry day to pick up shipments. I'm guessing they would also assume that shipments being delayed in areas with a natural disaster would be realized by the customer when ordering items.

Dishonesty?

All that Best Buy can do is promise to ship it out on time with a proper shipping service... Shipping delays due to weather, on the carrier side is definitely not something they can control or predict. Plus, the weekends don't count. Regardless, you just described much larger issues people are dealing with, let's be reasonable here... UPS will get it to you as soon as they can.

Re: shipping dishonesty

Also... I used to work for FedEx some years ago, and we have never kept track on areas with potential delays to inform the shippers of possibly different delivery dates. At best, there is a message on the website that some shipments might be delayed, but they still do everything they can to deliver on time, and don't adjust delivery estimates in advance. Best Buy has no way of knowing this to inform you.

Re: shipping dishonesty

amazon says there may be delays and reflects this in their estimates. BB wasn't doing their job here. I agree entirely this is small potatoes. I'm dealing with much bigger ones as are just about everyone i know. It is not unreasonable after giving someone hundreds of dollars to have them accurately reflect shipping expectations. as I had said, I could have driven to pick it up. the reality is, I'll just do my best to avoid best buy in the future. thanks y'all, be safe

Re: shipping dishonesty

Hey, saildal,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know about this shipping delay that you're experiencing. It's always unfortunate when weather or any other factor delays a shipment, and I can understand your concern and frustration here. I'd like to document this feedback and see if there is anything I can do to help.

We do our best to ensure that orders are fulfilled in a timely manner for our customers. While our "get it by," dates are ultimately estimates, we understand they set an expectation with our customers. So that I can take a closer look into this, please send us a private message with your full name, email, phone number, and order number.

Best,

Doesn't Amazon have their own last-mile fleet of delivery vehicles and employees, though?  I would imagine that their ability to warn of shipping delays is because they are one of their own primary shippers and have direct knowledge of the ground situation.

The only time I have seen notices of shipping delays on a retail website is when the retailer's own warehouses are directly affected, but not when my own house was under a weather restriction. (B&H Photo had this up after they received 3 feet of snow, but not when my neighborhood was without power for 18 days after a storm).
