multiple charges for a single order

I was charged 3 times for a single store pick up order. I contacted my bank and they confirmed that Best Buy authorized all three charges of the same amount. I can't get anyone on Beat Buys phone support. This needs to be fixed immediately, or i will no longer be shopping with Best Buy.

Re: multiple charges for a single order

Hello, michaeladamwest,

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for reaching out regarding the multiple charges for your order. I apologize for the delay in our reply as we are a bit behind due to higher than normal volumes. Seeing three charges for the same amount derived from the same order would be disconcerting to say the least, so I'm glad you've reached out to see what may be going on.

While certainly a peculiar occurrence, there are a couple of reasons why you may see multiple charges for an order. Typically, we will not charge a card used for payment until the item is fulfilled, though we will authorize the funds to ensure they are available. Once an order is fulfilled, we will reverse the authorization, and place the actual charge on the card. As such, you may see the authorization and charge on your account at the same time, depending on your bank's processing time frames. This can become even more complex if you have multiple items on your order that are fulfilled at different times, as we would only charge you for the fulfilled items.

Another reason you may see multiple authorizations or charges is due to modifications such as changing the fulfillment (from one store to another, store pickup to shipping, etc.). This would cause the order to recalculate, reversing the original authorization or charge, and authorizing or charging you for the new amount, which depending on tax, may ultimately be the same amount. As I mentioned already though, while the previous authorization or charge should be reversed, depending on your bank's processing time frames, you may see the charges at the same time.

At the end of the day, once your order is complete, you should see only the appropriate charges for your order, as the authorizations should drop off after a few days. If neither of these scenarios that I described seem to fit your scenario though, please feel welcome to let me now, and I'll be delighted to dig further into this with you!
