Windows 10 Pro purchase error

Hi, I needed to update my Windows 7 Pro laptop to Windows 10 Pro.  I went to BestBuy.com and purchased a Windows 10 Pro update.  When I received the email with the update code, I discovered the purchase was for a Windows 10 Home to Pro update.  I went back to the BestBuy.com website and the had to do a deep dive into the specs to find that this product was not what I needed and that it required Windows 10 Home.  I had a chat with customer support online, and they said (nicely and professionally) that due to corporate policy, they could not assist me in a refund or credit.  So I am reaching out here to see if I could discuss receiving a credit for this purchase.

The key may still be valid.

 

I heard that MS is still upgrading customers from Win 7 to Win 10 for free on various sites. Google it. . You have a valid Win 7 License so it's worth a shot.

While sometimes upgrading to the latest operating system has some great benefits, it can also be a pain.  I’m sorry to hear that this upgrade didn’t work the way that you hoped.

 

As the customer service representative pointed out, digital content like this is non-returnable.  You can find more information under our Return & Exchange Promise here.  I’d recommend contacting Microsoft, as hockeycanuckjc mentioned, to see if they can help at all.
