Was given open box item or store return

I picked up a security system (ring) last week. I ordered online and picked up in store. When I picked up I noticed the package a bit dirty but was in a rush. So, took it without examining the package.

When I got home, I noticed the seal was broken. The item is either an open box or a store return.

It most likely a store return because while I was installing, I had to reset the full system before it would connect. Apparently, it was connected to some WiFi before.

I really got very disappointed. When someone pays the price of a new unit, it needs to be new and sealed.

I lost trust. Now, if I am to order from Best Buy, I have to triple check the seal and ensure it is brand new.

I don’t wanna leave a negative feedback for product because it works as expected. Also, I don’t know who to contact but based on my research, I ended up on this forum.

Hopefully, this experience does not happen to someone else.

Even now, I am seriously considering putting it back in the box and returning it.

I have the pictures before I opened anything to show how dirty the box was and that the seal was broken.

Re: Was given open box item or store return

Welcome to our community. Like you, I try to make sure my purchases are all for new in box items and, on those rare occasions it's happened, when I discover that it's not it can be quite disappointing.

If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, as I'm sure you know, you're welcome to return it to us. Best Buy's Return & Exchange Promise allows for the return or exchange of most products within 15 days of purchase (30 days for My Best Buy Elite members and 45 days for Elite Plus members).

I hope this helps. Thank you for writing to us.
