Hi,
I rcvd a WD EasyStore external HDD today. When I opened the box I noticed that the plastic wrap on the drive unit looks like it was previously removed and then replaced.
Is this to be expected from WD now? I've never received a NEW drive with plastic wrap applied like this.
Is there some way to be certain that this is actually NEW? If not, I feel it's important enough to return the item so I hope there is.
Thanks

MikeS_inFL,
Welcome to our community. In a few instances, I've opened what seemed to be a new in box product that had the appearance of having been previously opened. It was always a bit disappointing because I expected the packing to be pristine, just as you did with your new Western Digital hard drive.
While I cannot speak to how WD packages their products, I can tell you that if you are unhappy with the condition of the product or there are functionality issues, an exchange may be your best option. We want you to be happy with your purchase!
Please bear in mind though, as you likely already know, Best Buy's Return & Exchange Promise allows for the return or exchange of most products within 15 days of purchase (30 days for My Best Buy Elite members and 45 days for Elite Plus members). Outside those time frames Best Buy cannot offer a return or exchange.
I hope this helps. Thank you for writing to us.

Maybe someone returned it as used and then they put it back on the shelf as new. Honestly, if its a problem you are more than welcome to exchange for another and see in the package if that is the case with the other one. No worries it happens now and then.
