Terrible experience with printer purchase and return

I ordered an HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 online for shipment. When it arrived, I was not able to load the print cartridges (the carrier would not move).


I tried to return the printer to my local Best Buy. At first, I was told that I would be able to exchange it. However, they were not able to accept the printer because I had ordered a white printer and received a black one (different SKUs).


After waiting more than an hour, your helpful staff was able to print out a label to have it shipped back, but I returned home without a printer. Now I have to wait for a replacement... What should I do? This has been a real waste of time.

If an incorrect item was sent, you will need to call the 888 number for return instructions.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for connecting with us for assistance.  Discovering the item you’ve received is not the item you’ve ordered can certainly be a cause of frustration, so I completely understand why you’d want to make sure you’re getting the correct item you’ve been waiting for.


You’ve mentioned the printer you received was shipped by your local Best Buy store back to our return center.  Have you received any notification that your printer has been returned?  If not, I’d like to look into your order further to make sure it’s been returned properly, and a refund has been processed.  Before I’m able to review your order further, I’ll need a few pieces of additional information from you.  If you could use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature to send me the following information:


  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • Your order number
