I have received emails with the Best Buy brand that claim to award prizes (iPhones, Xbox consoles, and PS consoles) if you complete a loyalty program survey and pay shipping. I did so but no prize was delivered. Is this legitimate or a scam?

Hello there, Gjsbkj,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

You've asked a terrific question, and it's important these days to be extra careful with all the scams going around.

I can confirm that these are scams.  Best Buy is not offering any free items for completing customer service surveys.  If you paid for that shipping fee with a credit card, I would recommend contacting your bank immediately to have the charge disputed, and potentially replacing your card.

You can also forward the emails to Abuse@bestbuy.com so we can look into them further. You can find some more details here.

Sincerely,

Why does Best Buy allow this scam that uses its clearly marked brand? What are they doing about it? Trademark infringement?

I can certainly understand your frustration, and Best Buy is continuously working to prevent these scams and to shut them down once we discover them.  We wouldn't be able to provide exact information as to these processes however, as that would be internal to Best Buy.
