Roadie delivery awful. Left photo proof of delivery on street. Package was stolen.

 

This is not the first occurence I have had of a package being deliverd being stolen with "photo proof" of roadie person leaving a bestbuy order left on a public facing street. I live in an apartment building. They did not call. They took a picture in front of my huge apartment building, marked package as delivered. Package was of course stolen, with anyone's guess as to who it may have been.

 

I had the exact issue happen several months ago, and received a call back from the local bestbuy manager where the item came from, and he was not suprised, they had many complaints happening with Roadie. Was told Best Buy usually sends geek squad empolyees to make local deliveries, and said he would make a note of my issue as a reason for them not to continue with Roadie as a service provider.

 

Unfortunatley, I cannot reach my Best Buy manager directly, or anyone at my local Best Buy. This is just really poor service from what I feel was a great company to buy from locally. Why would anyone use this horrible Roadie for anything. They apparently not held accountable for anything as Best Buy contiues to use them. This will be the last time I order with Best Buy.

Generally yes- if a Geek Squad rep is able to deliver it then they do that and the tracking number usually says BBY. I had my laptop delivered from them and they called me to make sure I was home to accept the delivery which I appreciated.

Thanks for your input here. Just adding a little bit to this story, given I had another item from Best Buy also stolen months ago, also a Roadie delivery, this time, I chose a time when I was going to be home. Instead of the day I indicated on the BestBuy website, they did it the next day (a Sunday, and not the Tuesday when I would have physically at least been able to run down to get it before it was stolen by random person on street, or most likely, the delivery person. There are so many reports of "stolen" roadie deliveries it is insane on the internet. Twitter especially.

I think Best Buy should reconsider using these types of delivery services without giving the customer an option. I had a package stolen by a Shipt driver just today. I did Not choose them as my delivery option and wish I had been given a choice in the matter. Mailing electronics with delivery services like these is just a bad idea.

Whole heartedly agree. Any other online or in-store store, you will know who is shipping your item prior to the item being shipped. This is the last order I will ever make with Best Buy. Them trying to save a dollar or two per order, by not using a real delivery service is going to wind up costing them more money in the long run, by people being so upset they just won't shop with them anymore at all. I was not looking to get any of my items delivered same day, next day, or even within 3 days, I just want it shipped with a reliable service, and not shippers like Roadie (owned by UPS by the way), who have their contractor driver's "bid" for how much they will charge to deliver for their clients. That is how Roadie operates. None of the Roadie drivers are employees, and I doubt are even vetted at all, and they get paid very little for delivering, so it really isn't that suprising if we get packages that never get truly "delivered". Sorry.. this is all just so frustrating.

Best Buy has lots of options they use for shipping. They usually try and choose the best one for you. I know Amazon does this and also Walmart with different shippers at random. If there was an option to choose it would be great based on delivery history in the complex i live in. NewEgg used to offer the option to have UPS or Fed Ex but usually one was more upcharged than the other. 

 

I guess if it's in stock at the local store it will be delivered to you from there first unless your store can't fulfill it, then it defaults next to shipping to you via a carrier from another store farther away from you if it gets in stock and so forth.
