I heard this same thing on reddit and decided to call customer support and asked to confirm. They told me after a certain amount of time if the status says reserving item for too long it will automatically cancel your order. The person couldn't specify if it was 10 days or not though.
I really hope he's wrong. It would be nice to get some more info about what's going on since A LOT of people have this same problem with RTX 3070 FE cards, myself included.

There has been mixed messages regarding this on Reddit, with BB reps giving different information. Another post stated that if it is in reserving item status you are all set and will receive your order. So not sure what to believe. I am guessing they are getting inventory in periodic shipments and that is the reason. Most systems now only allow you to order if orders match to inventory. As this wasn't a preorder I would believe that to be the case. Unless Nvidia doesn't deliver on their end with the promised amount of inventory to BB.

Okay so I figured it out.
When an item is set to "Reserving Item" it means there is no available stock, but there is more planned stock incoming. They set you to "Reserving item" until your estimated delivery date, at which point the status will change to "Delayed".
So after you ordered, if your estimated delivery date was November 5th, after November 5th arrives and you still have no item shipped, it'll change from Reserving Item to Delayed and give you a certain amount of time before they automatically cancel, unless they intervene with a new date estimation via email.
So mine went from "Reserving item" to "Delayed" quickly because I had one day shipping set (for delivery October 30th) so when that date arrived it swapped to Delayed and said if they did not ship before November 6th, my item would be cancelled and refunded.
But, thankfully, shortly after the Delayed status, my order was fulfilled because new stock arrived. When new stock for the item arrives, it goes to those waiting on Reserved status, possibly with a priority to those who were already "delayed".
My GPU arrived today. So you just gotta have hope.

I am still on reserving item too. Assuming mine will be changed to delayed on the 5th.

I was too, but it shipped. The only thing is though is that it seems like there are no tracking numbers. It has been an issue for everyone.

Yes it will change to delayed if it doesn't ship by your estimated date. So midday November 5th or so, it'll change to "Delayed" and your status will say "If it does not ship by so and so date, your order will be automatically cancelled."
Apparently Best Buy e-mailed a ton of people telling them they should see their order ship on or before November 20th, so you might also wanna check spam folder in your e-mails just to see if you received one of these messaages.
If your order still hasn't been cancelled, it's likely they really are trying to get a GPU shipped to you. They cancelled a ton of orders the day the GPU launched because the system let too many people in, and they kept those they knew they could fulfill, so just have a little hope and be patient.
