Re: Refund

Does your check card have a major Credit Card logo on it such as Visa or Mastercard? If so, the cancellation should have resolved the issue from Best Buy’s end. Our system does an authorization at the step of the order, and only finalizes the charge at the shipping/pickup stage. I think the big confusion is that banks choose to present this information differently. Some show it as a pending charge, some remove the funds from the available balance, some don’t really make it clear what is happening at all. As long as the transaction was never shipped or completed, Best Buy did not finalize the charge. An order completion followed by an immediate return yields an entirely different result. As long as it was truly cancelled, you would want to follow up with the bank. My bank returns pending funds back in approx. 7-10 business days, some are better, some smaller regional banks can take up to 30 days.

Hope this helps.

Re: Refund

Hello, TedJudyShrader,

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for reaching out in regards to a couple of charges you're still seeing on your account. I understand you cancelled a couple of orders before replacing one, and these are the charges you're still seeing.

As jdogg836 mentioned, we typically authorize the funds to ensure they're available when shopping with a credit or debit card. These authorizations do not allow us to collect the funds, and once an order is fulfilled, the authorization is reversed, and the final charge applied. In your case, the authorization should have simply been reversed upon cancellation. It can take a few days on your bank's end though to release the funds back to you, so I would encourage you to keep an eye on this.

If you shouldn't see this charge drop off soon, please feel welcome to reach back out.

Sincerely,
