I’ve been having the same problem. I traded in my old iPhone for the gift card. I used it, was told the authorization failed and then told by support and the Best Buy store I got it from that it would take 72 hours for the refund to be on my card. Here I am, almost 72 hours later with no refund—I also don’t understand why this one specific card takes 72 hours, but the three other cards I used were refunded immediately. I’ve been talking to support every day since 12/13 and I’m extremely frustrated; there is no reason why it should take 72 hours for my refund to post to a gift card. I try to be understanding as possible, but I am just so dang frustrated and defeated. I want my money back. I’m also being told by the Best Buy gift card balance checker that my card does not exist anymore, either. I’m extremely frustrated as it’s a good chunk of money. I just want to purchase what I had planned to purchase with the gift cards.

I called today, too. They told me it would take 15 business days for me to get my refund, which is dumb. I want my money back NOW not later. If I’m not going to get my money back ASAP, I want the phone I traded in back. This is unacceptable. I’m currently on hold with corporate because I am furious.

Also, the phone number for gift card support doesn’t work. Every time I get transferred, it says the number is out of service and hangs up on me.

No one has been able to resolve my problem. I have called FIVE TIMES TODAY. THIS IS ATROCIOUS.

Explain to me WHY I have to wait 15 days for a refund that was from a gift card?! And why I have to wait an “authorization” hold?! This is absolutely ridiculous. It would be one thing if it was going back on a credit/debit card, but it isn’t. This is excessive.

Just give me back my money with an e-gift card. This is so dumb. I am so freaking mad about this.

Thanks for reaching out about your gift card. I can understand that not getting the refund to the card is not a welcome scenario, especially after multiple days. 

 

Typically, gift cards should be refunded within 30 minutes if an order is cancelled for any reason, but it can take up to 24 hours. Under certain circumstances though, there may be a system issue that can prevent this from happening. In these situations, it can take eight business days to clear, but I'd be happy to take a look into this with you to determine what is happening and if there's any options to get this refunded to you sooner.
