I work for HomeAdvisor. Now that we are work from home, any spifs are given in digital gift card format. I chose Best Buy from the options that I had (through prizeout.com). I attempted to purchase a digital PlayStation Store Cash Card several times with said card but the order was cancelled every time I placed the order. Today I was informed that I was not allowed to buy a "gift card" with the Best Buy card. My first argument is that it is not a gift card that I am attempting to purchase, my second argument is that it is very hypocrtical for Best Buy to allow me to choose them as an option through prizeout.com and for them to accept that money, yet tell me that I cannot do essentially the same transaction through them to PlayStation Store. Yet that is the only explanation that I received and was told to use my own credit card to make the purchase. HomeAdvisor is not a small company and spends alot of money doing these types of things for us, and our VP that ran this one is already in touch with prizeout.com, but I told him to lets run an experiment. Let's see if Best Buy is telling HomeAdvisor and prizeout.com that they will take their money, yet not provide the product that the consumer wants. It is a digital PlayStation Store card for crying out loud. How stupid is this whole scenario? You can't make it up. I honestly could care less about the monetary value, it is a matter of principle now. And by the way, I could find no mention of this being a stipulation before I chose Best Buy as my option, at least in no place that would not require a law degree. Ball is in your court Best Buy, I hope you guys surprise me, but expectations are not high.

Good afternoon, RonBurress71,
Welcome to our community forums and thank you for raking the time to write to us about your recent experience with this purchase. It's always great to have a gift card around and I would be glad to provide some more details on how these work.
While we are able to accept gift cards as payment for most products and Geek Squad services, this does not include Best Buy or third party gift cards, even if they are digital. You can find some additional details about gift cards here
I hope I was able to help answer your question. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can help with anything else!

If I wanted to purchase a digital game with this card, would I be able to? I assume yes. So what is the difference? If I wanted to use my credit card to make this purchase, I would have no need to go through Best Buy. I would just do it through PlayStation Store directly like I always do. So, I now have $100 Best Buy gift card that my employer paid for, but is useless. What do you suggest that I do? Chalk it up as a loss while Best Buy keeps the money? Again, when consumers are given Best Buy as an option through Prizeout.com or similar apps, we should be informed of this, and not in fine print in with all of the other legal disclaimers. And I am being serious, what does Best Buy suggest that I do with this then? Again, I do not care about the money, this is would be the same as if a contractor came to HomeAdvisor and signed up with me and I took their money, but then told them that even though he is a plumber, our policy is not to provide plumbers with plumbing customers, and to keep their money anyway. It is absurd. Why does Best Buy give two craps about what I buy from them, if they have already been paid???? And if you cannot give me a reasonable answer to this, not the cookie cutter response you have already given me, please go ahead and bump me up the ladder to the next person in the chain of command. Like I said, this is now a special project of mine and I will not settle for being brushed aside.

Hi there, RonBurress71,
Thank you for following up with me. I would be glad to help further clarify how you can use this gift card. While we are unable to process an order for a gift card that is being paid for with a gift card, you are welcome to purchase from a wide variety of different products and Geek Squad services.
I would be unable to speak to what information this third party provides when purchasing a gift card. I would recommend contacting them directly if you have questions about their listings.

No, I don't need to contact the other company, they did their job. This is a BestBuy issue. It would be so easy to get someone that can authorize or send me what I want, instead of giving lip service by saying the same automated response. Again, it is not about the measly 100 bucks, it is about the principle that Best Buy has been paid for this card, plain and simple. So, again, if you cannot help me and you are limited to regurgitating the same response, put me in contact with the next person. Eventually it will get in front of the right person and they will do what should have been done in the first place, just to shut me up. So please, respond with the contact info of who is next on the ladder. Thank you.

Welcome back to our forums, RonBurress71,
Andrew is unavailable at the moment, so I wanted to step in and make sure we’re addressing your post while he’s away.
Reviewing the conversation you and Andrew have had thus far, it looks like the information he’s provided is correct. To clarify, the PlayStation Store card you’ve been attempting to purchase would be considered a third-party gift card, and as such, we’ll be unable to accept a Best Buy gift card as payment towards that gift card. This is outlined in the Best Buy Gift Cards Terms and Conditions, and there is not another person or team within Best Buy I can get you in touch with that would be working from a different set of terms and conditions.

I disagree, there is always someone else to talk to. And again, it is idiotic that you sell the PlayStation products on line, yet you say that it can't be purchased with YOUR OWN CARD FROM BEST BUY! And trust me, with Best Buy laying of 5,000 people, on line customer service is going to become a hot point, and jobs in on line customer care are going to be a premium. So again, I do not need a reply from you saying the same thing, I want the contact information of the next person in line. I was Army 9 years and have worked for HomeAdvisor for 5, so I know what I am talking about. There is always someone above you and I am requesting that information. If you don't provide it, I will find it on my own. You see how this going, right? I am a guy that does not care about the dollar value of the stupid card, it is the fact that it is not right that you have my company's money for that card and you won't provide me the only thing I even want from your store. I expect to have the next person's contact info in the next message, and the person after that if I get the same cookie cutter response. Have a great day.
