It's not just the packaging. They are packing damaged items at the warehouse. They REALLY need all their exclusivity deals ended and for someone else to be given those items.

Furthermore, we're not the business that is selling items, including many that are ONLY available on this continent from Best Buy. We have absolutely no responsibility for coming up with means of getting the products to the customer undamaged, and if they don't, which is CLEARLY the case, then they shouldn't be in that business!!

...and now I find out about this INCREDIBLY outlandish "policy" of disallowing editing or removal of comments by the person who posts them!!!!!!!!!!! This is a problem for me more than just about anyone, as I am constantly being made to not only have what I actually wrote erased from my memory mid sentence, but then have it replaced with a false memory of alternate wording. This goes hand in hand with Best Buy's bizarro way of dealing with the matter of their items arriving damaged, including not offering replacements of in-stock items, and placing undue and unjustified responsibllity upon the customer, something that some people seem to be happy to assist them in doing in one context or another. I had them send me the same Steelbook probably close to 15 times a few years ago, and EVERY SINGLE COPY was damaged, along with many others I've ordered over the years, which had resulted in my never ordering Steelbooks for shipping until last October, when I decided to test whether or not they had ACTUALLY made any changes, as they'd ALWAYS tell me on the phone, in chats, AND AS I HAVE EVEN READ IN A POST ON THIS SITE CONCERNING DAMAGED STEELBOOKS!!!! Well, the not-too-surprising result was that I received TWO OUT OF TWO damaged Steelbooks!!!!!!!! Then, after swearing off ordering from Best Buy for quite a while, I placed ANOTHER order in July of this year, including one non-preorder item, which was a Steelbook, and, of course, THAT came in damaged as well!!!! I cancelled the preorder items and returned the damaged Steelbook, making a new order for the preorder Steelbook and having someone pick it up at the nearest store when they made the 20+ mile trip. Nonetheless, I was enticed by a Steelbook for a certain movie of which I've never owned a copy before, and one from the same line with the plastic slipcovers that contain elements that serve as integral aspects of the artwork, and ONE OF THEM comes in with the plastic slipcover damaged, and apparent damage to the slipcover of the other as well if not the Steelbook itself, in addition to some damage to the packaging of the box set I'd ordered along with them.

Thank you for joining our Best Buy Forums. I can understand that receiving a damaged steel book can be difficult. I would be glad to help with questions or concerns if you would like to Private Message your full name, email and phone number. While these items get damaged in shipping I would recommend pickup as it is normally received in a box with other copies of the same title. These items are fragile and from time to time can get damaged even with the best care.

 

While we do edit posts to remove customers personal identifiable information and things that are against our Terms and Conditions the intention is not to effect our customers in a negative way. If you have any other concerns please let us know.

Yes, I'm sure they could possibly get damaged with the best of care, but Best Buy would not have any firsthand knowledge of that, because your warehouses have never treated such items with anything even remotely resembling the best of care. 

Excuse me. I have to go to the main website and request a label for my latest BestBuy.com order, which was comprised of two Steelbooks and one box set in a slipcase, ALL OF WHICH arrived damaged!! By the way, even my attempting to circumvent the matter of your warehouse's insistence on shipping Steelbooks in thin, sandwiched cardboard or inadequately protective bubble mailers has been subverted in this case as in others by the order being split into more than one package!!!!!

As for the suggestion that I use order pickup, the nearest store to my home, which is over 20 miles away, had the "brilliant" idea to remove their movie and TV department around four and a half years ago so as you can imagine, given that their movie and TV selection is limited to a single island near the front door, they don't EVER have very much in stocl from that category of items.

This is something that was done in all stores. I can understand the inconvenience to the customers that came to Best Buy for their favorite movies as predominantly Digital media has taken over the market.

Furthermore, Best Buy's "policies" place tremendously greater obligation on the customer than those to whom Best Buy is LAUGHABLY portrayed as a competitor with regard to the matter of dealing with the outcome of Best Buy shipping them damaged products! Not only is the usual return window TREMENDOUSLY shorter in the case of Best Buy than Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc., but Best Buy doesn't even offer the pickup options that Amazon does and the others listed may. That is not to mention that I have been told on more than one occasion that there was no option to have a replacement item sent, DESPITE THE ITEM BEING AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING ON THE WEBSITE. This places the obligation on the customer to either pay an additional shipping charge - if they originally placed an order that qualified for free shipping - to have an item replaced that Best Buy damaged or caused to be damaged in the first place (with many such items, again, being damaged inside of undamaged shipping packaging, showing that the problem in such cases lies in the warehouse, and as mentioned, I can personally attest, if my own experience is any indication, to there being no reason WHATSOEVER for a customer to believe that the next copy of the item - nor even the 12th - will be any less damaged than the one before it!!), or to place another order that meets or exceeds the free shipping threshold!
