Online preorder cancelled, no refund

I recently preordered a game after reading that Best Buy does not charge until the product ships. To my surprise it charged me immediately, so I cancelled the purchase on Monday, June 10. I still have not received a refund of the $216 that was taken out of my account despite using my debit card for the purchase.

Thanks for joining our Community Forums here to check in on your recent order. 

 

When pre-orders are placed here at Best Buy, we do place an initial authorization on the order. However, that hold typically falls off within a few business days. Then, five days prior to the release, we'll send an authorization through to your account to check for the appropriate funds. Finally, once the game ships or is picked up, we'll remove that authorization and place the full charge on the card. 

 

I've seen it take between five and ten business days for an authorization to release from a card, but that time is completely dependent on your card company. I recommend pairing with them if you've not seen your authorization charge fall off within that time.
