I put an item in my shopping cart and then went to look at another item. When returned to my cart, someone else's account (check out screen) showed up on my screen. I was given access to what this person was purchasing (laptop and a virus protection) along with his name, address, phone # and email address. I then clicked on my account to make sure everything was secure, and it was. Clicked shopping cart, and this time my cart appeared with all my info.
My account was secure and it wasn't hacked. My browsing & shipping history only show the items I was looking at or previously purchased.
I called customer service and had to explain what happened to 3 different reps. All clueless and didn't seem concerned. The last person had me on hold for almost 10 min while she checked to see if this was something that should be reported to management. I hung up. From what I'm reading, this happens quite frequently and this continual breach of private account information by Best Buy is unacceptable. I will be reporting this to the FTC.

Were you using a public computer?

Thanks for reaching out to us!
It's certainly strange to see that this has happened and I'll admit it's the first time I've heard of it happening. There can be a lot of different reasons why this may have happened, which can include a compromised home network or laptop. I would suggest visiting a local store to have one of our Geek Squad agents look at your laptop and see if they can replicate the issue and possibly figure out what happened. Once that is done we can see how to best approach this concern.

Although this might be the first time you personally have heard about this happening, Google search this issue and you'll find this and other account irregularities have happened to other people as well.
As I clearly stated in my initial post, my computer and home network are completely secure. My account was not hacked. My network was not hacked.
Somehow, you think I'm at fault because I was given access to someone else's personal account information when I clicked on my shopping cart icon?? Yeah, that makes sense... How about, when I clicked on my icon, there was a glitch in Best Buy's system and I was erreoneously given access to someone else's account? I will not be persuing this issue any further within this company, but come on, Best Buy. Own up.
