So I had wanted the game Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch. I saw that it cost $29.99 from BestBuy and found it cheaper at Walmart for $20.79.
I was speaking with online customer service, and they said that they could do the price match, but before they could match it they had wanted me to go on and check out.
I was confused at this because earlier I had done a price match for Mario Odyssey (found cheaper at Walmart), and the online customer service associate has sent me to a custom type of check-out page, and was able to get Mario there.
Now what had happened earlier had me stunned. They were wanting me to purchase the game for over $30(after taxes), and was going to manually price-check the game. Would have been after I had checked out and placed the order.
I am not sure what they were trying to do, I didn't have the money to spend the $30+, only had enough for the Walmart price Minecraft (with BestBuy price-check).
Could someone explain what a 'manual price-check' is for this situation?
Were they going to send me a gift-card to make up for the price?
Why could they not just send me to a online 'custom' checkout with the new price of Minecraft?
Any help would be helpful.

Hi there, Snizzlee,
Welcome back to our community forums. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your recent experience with our Price Match Guarantee. I can certainly understand wanting to make sure you get the best price possible and would be happy to help answer your questions.
While I'm not familiar with a "manual price-check" or a "custom checkout", it sounds like the agent you spoke to was going to issue a refund for the difference in price once your order was placed. Once this refund is issued, it would be processed to the original form of payment.
Generally, we are able to change the price of a product prior to making a purchase at our store locations once we have verified a price match. You're always welcome to stop by your local Best Buy for assistance with a price match in the future.
I hope I was able to answer your questions, please let me know if I can help with anything else!
