MISLEADING CREDIT ADVERTISING

I am a Best Buy loyalist, always my go to for TV, or other big purchases. I was in the hunt for a new tv, decided on one that the price tag was over $2500.00. There was a pop up that said this purchase qualified for a NO INTEREST CREDIT CARD w/payments being $95.84 for 2 years ! Sounded great, I applied and the credit limit I was given was $1000.00,so, NO THIS WAS VERY MISLEADING ! It did not qualify for the entire amount!!!!

A. I HAVE A CREDIT SCORE OVER 800.

B. I DID NOT NEED ANOTHER CREDIT CARD, nor a ding on my credit for a credit check, for a $1000.00 credit card, that incidentally would NOT cover the entire purchase of the TV that I wanted to purchase!

C. I tried to get a limit increase w/the Best Buy CC folks and was denied. The customer service rep said that the $1000.00 was pretty much standard. REALLY !

Mind you this was just to purchase the TV. I did not need another card.

So, in my mind it was very misleading, the advertising saying that this qualifed, it didn't as the credit limit, did not cover the cost of the TV.

I bought the TV, paid cash, and moved on, but EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTED and very angry over this!

Re: MISLEADING CREDIT ADVERTISING

Unfortunately bestbuy doesnt have any control over the credit limits. It's all up to Citibank.

Re: MISLEADING CREDIT ADVERTISING

Good evening, jjoey57,

Welcome to our community forums. Buying a new TV is an exciting an event and I can certainly understand wanting to get the best deal possible. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience with this application.

As nckhammond mentioned, the My Best Buy credit card is issued and administered by our partner Citibank. While we can assist you with the application, any determination regarding the credit limit would be at Citibank's discretion.

While it sounds like you have already been in contact with them, I would recommend contacting Citibank directly at (888) 574-1301 for more information regarding your account.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns I can help with!
