Lost e-gift card number

I purchased a $65 e-gift card from Amazon (combined several different CC rewards/cash backs to buy it).

That gift card was used to make an online purchase.

Said purchase was returned and I was told I recieved a full refund.

However, I somehow no longer have the email that contained the e-gift cards number and/or redemption link.

So I now have $65 sitting on a Best Buy e-gift card that I can not access. Pulling up the order history with the order number does not help me, as it only shows the last 4 digits of the gift card.

I need either the full number emailed to me, or a brand new one issued to me through my email.

Re: Lost e-gift card number

Hi, insanetiger,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community!

Although I wish you were connecting with us under happier circumstances, I'm glad that you took the time to bring this to our attention. That said, we appreciate how patient you've been while waiting for a reply. We're currently handling a larger volume than normal, but are working to get to everyone as quickly as we can.

I know how excited I am when I have a gift card to use towards a purchase, so I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have your order cancelled but not have the info you need to place another order. That's not the shopping experience we wanted for you!

While I wish I could help you sort this out, you'd actually need to work directly with Amazon, since that's where the gift card was purchased. We don't have access to reissuing gift cards that were purchased though a third party. That said, if you bring this up to Amazon they should be able to get you the info you need so you can use the funds that were returned onto your e-gift card.

Cheers,

Re: Lost e-gift card number

Except that isn't possible. Once a gift card is redemmed, Amazon can't reissue it, nor tell me what the number was.

I don't get why this is so hard. Why can you not look up the order via it's order number, see the gift card that was used, (and see that the amount was credited back to it),and then either tell me the number or issue a new one?

Amazon doesn't have my money; YOU guys do.

Re: Lost e-gift card number

Hi there, insanetiger,

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate on your point of view for this. If I was in your position, I'd also be confused by the answer of that I would need to work with Amazon for this. I’d be happy to elaborate on why you would need to work with them towards a solution.

While I appreciate you thinking outside of the box to try and figure out a resolution, the options you came up with are not something our system can do. If you'd like to send me a Private Message with your full name, phone number, email address and the order number that was refunded, I can look into that gift card to see what's going on with the funds and provide the gift card number. However, we don't have access to the PIN, which you can’t use the gift card without.

I have checked with our support team that can reissue lost gift cards, and they confirmed that if the gift card was purchased elsewhere you would need to work with the retailer where the gift card was purchased. If our system had a way to provide you with the info you need to access that gift card we would, but the info you require can only be provided by the retailer where it was purchased.

Respectfully,

Re: Lost e-gift card number

Hello again, insanetiger,

As Elle pointed out, we are unable to assist with reissuing gift cards that were purchased through a third party.  You will have to work with Amazon to have those gift cards replaced.  This is Best Buy's official response.
