Just spent over a thousand bucks on a new sony lens and I received an empty box instead???

You guys have no idea how distraught I am. 

 

I've been saving up for a new lens for my sony A7iii for the last year and recently purchased one off of bestbuy.com for my mother to come pick it up at the Potomac Yards Best Buy.  Now my mother not knowing anything about cameras just goes and picks it up for me. Can you imagine my surprise when i receive it and and it's empty. Well not empty, it has the lens hood and a faux leather case for the lens but no lens in it.   

 

Has anyone else had this issue?  What can I do? Does Best Buy keep their expensive stuff outside of the boxes like they do at Gamestop and other stores?  Would I be able to find video of the day my mom came and picked it up?  I am not in a position where I can leave to go to the store.   I tried to call the 800 number and they said they couldn't help me.  They told me calling the store would just redirect me to the 800 number.   And I'm lost now. 

 

This is so sad. My mom feels extremely terrible and we don't have the money to buy another lens. This was for a trip to Africa and now we are left feeling robbed and disappointed with Best Buy.  Why would they do this?

You can email the store, however for something like this someone really should go talk to them directly...
