I ordered 3 Cheesecake Factory Gift Cards from Best Buy and picked them up at the West Towne Store in Madison - 25$ each for my niece who has a birthdy several days before Christmas. We have started getting her a cheesecake on Christmas because she enjoys it as her birthday cake. I did not have time to the cards to her this year and instead bought the cake to the celebration myself. Unfortunately one of the cards came up invalid. I suspected it had not be properly activated at the store. It was not showing it had been used - unlike the other 2 which I used on the cake and the purchases showed up correctly. I went to the Best Buy store today and a manager was summoned to assist at the Customer Service Desk. He did not help at all. He could do nothing for me. I had all 3 cards and the orginal wrapers with the informaton and "Pick Up" clearly labeled. He told me once the cards are picked up they are automatically activated. The only thing I can do is contact Cheesecake Factory and see if they ever sold the card to Best Buy and they had evidience if it had ever been activated Then I would have to contact this manager's manager to get it resolved. Best Buy has my money, sold me the card and now I am out $25. I will contact Cheesecake Factory and let them know how poorly served they are by Best Buy as a merchant for their brand. I cannot imagine how embarassing it would have been if I had given those cards, including the invalid one, to my niece. West Towne Best Buy should know how poorly their employees treat customers at this store. This was a very small purchase compared to the amount I (and my householed ) have spent in the store. I guess customer satisfaction doesn't matter to this big corporate giant - becaue that was the message I recieved from someone who is suppsed to be a manager. The amount of harm done to your reputation is way worse than $25.
