Hacked Account

Hi! Recently my BestBuy account was hacked and they used my  bestbuy credit card for purchases. They changed the email address, and unhooked my phone from my account. I've been on the phone multiple times trying to get it fixed, they sent me a new card that was still hooked up to the old account and the hacker started using it before I could even get the card in the mail. The card also doesn't have my new account number, I was wondering if I could get some help getting my old account back or some advice on what to do. Because I haven't heard back at all, and the new card I got in the mail is the one the hacker already tried to use. I don't know if im receiving a second new card, or if they were going through with cancelling my account. Smiley Sad

This is my first time dealing with something like this, and im super lost and everytime I call they assure me everything is fine and don't listen to what im saying.

I will take any advice or help please!

Re: Hacked Account

So the way the password reset works on the Best Buy site is that if you ask for a password reset payment information is removed from your account for safety reasons. This is what I observed the last time I reset my password. 2 Factor Authentication is also must.

To protect your account online I suggest the following tips here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/privacy-policy/protecting-online-accounts/pcmcat274600050015.c?id=pcmca...

If you have an issue with your replacement Best Buy card, I would call Citi Bank directly and let them know that you experienced fraud again. I would also call the three credit bureaus to let them know that you are a victim of constant fraud.

Re: Hacked Account

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums.

Hi Zaikiai. Thanks for stopping by our community forums, though I wish it were under better circumstances. It's unfortunate that this happened to you and I know it must have been scary. As it relates to the Best Buy Credit Card, as hockeycanuckjc mentioned Citibank, N.A. is the issuer of your My Best Buy Credit Card account, so if you're still experiencing issues with your card being charged. Please contact Best Buy Credit Card support though Citibank at (888) 574-1301 for further assistance. In regards to the account I would need to take a closer look to see what can be done.

Please send me a private message by clicking on the blue button next to my signature, with your full name, phone number, and e-mail address. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
