Trying to make a purchase online. I have a $20 e-gift card that I would like to use. Checked via Best Buy balance checker online and the 16 digit number and pin work, there is indeed a $20 balance. Whenever I input the 16 digit number on checkout, the APPLY button becomes gray and I cannot press it. Tried via mobile app and website, same result.

Welcome to our forums! Using a gift card shouldn't be difficult, so I can understand your concern.

There are some things it doesn't let you buy with gift cards also. Like other cards.
