Gift Card "not valid"

 

I purchased a physical Best Buy gift card from bestbuy.com. After the delivery, I tried to check the balance online at https://www.bestbuy.com/gift-card-balance and it says "The gift card number or PIN you entered is not valid. Please try again."

 

I don't remember to read any reminder for activating the gift card after the delivery or something similar. How can I resolve this issue?

Welcome to our forums!  It’s disappointing to hear there seems to be an issue with the Best Buy gift card you recently purchased from us, but I’ll be happy to take a closer look, and see what additional assistance I can provide to resolve this matter.

 

For me to review your order further, I’ll just need you to send me a private message with the following information:

 

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • Your order number
  • The 16-digit gift card number (without the PIN)

 

As you can imagine, we’ll want to keep this sensitive information out of the public view of our Support Forums, so be sure to use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature to get this information sent my way.  If you’re accessing our site on a mobile device, you may need to switch to “Full” or “Desktop” view before this button is visible to you.

Just for the case it might helpful for others.

 

The issue was that I pasted the 16-digit gift card number as "1111 2222 3333 4444" (with spaces) into https://www.bestbuy.com/gift-card-balance, and the page ate the last digit – so I was trying "111122223333444" rather than "1111222233334444".
