Similar to others that have experienced, I had an order on Bestbuy.com paid using a few gift cards which later failed because of "failed authorization".
The gift card funds were drained and not refunded even though my order was cancelled, I spoke with at least 5 different ppl on the phone and they transferred me between departments and couldn't help refund the balance to the gift cards. And the last customer service that I spoke with told me to contact the retailer that I purchased the gift card or cashstar. Please can someone help, it seems like I am not the only one with these gift card "failed authorization"

A question for you, did you purchase these through a third party or through Best Buy direct? This can be critical information. Typically when you have a failed transaction the gift card you bought is supposed to be refunded within a couple of hours. Technical issues can delay this and if it is truly a third party card there could be a communication error between Best Buy and the third party who issued it.

Thank you for taking time to reach out about this. I'm sorry to hear that your order didn't go through. I've had that happen a few times before and it can be a little frustrating. As you mentioned, the gift cards were purchased outside of Best Buy. Being that they were, we don't have any power on getting those reinstated quicker. That's completely on Amazon and Von's systems. If you can get ahold of them and get the money back on the cards, then connect with us again and we'll get your order through properly.
I wish there was more that I can do on this, but they didn't originate from our side. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck. If you have any questions, please reach out and let me know. Otherwise, have an awesome rest of your day!

But it doesn't seem like it is an isolated case, it happened to other people as well. There was a balance on those gift cards before I placed the order on Bestbuy.com and the balance was taken away from those cards after I placed the order. How would the retailers be responsible for this, I talked to them and they are not taking responsible on this.

Correct, the funds are not back to the cards. I did talked to Amazon and they told me to contact Bestbuy and only Bestbuy can help as they have limited information and those cards were authorized for sure from their point of view.

Interesting. I can definitely take a look at it on my side and see what's going on! From there, if need be, I can reach out to one of my partner teams that specializes with gift cards as they can see a lot more from their perspective. If that sounds good, could you reach out to me through a private message and verify your full name, phone number and email address? You can find that button to the right of my name. From there, I can check out the order and we can move forward.
