Fraudulent Charge

I have a fraudulent charge of $410 on my debit card through bestbuy.com. Wait time to talk to a rep is TWO HOURS. It is still currently pending so I’m trying to get this taken care of before it goes through on my account. Anyone know how I can talk to someone quickly and get this taken care of??

Re: Fraudulent Charge

I also just had a fraudulant charge on my debit card today from Bestbuy for $728.73.  I need to know who to contact to get this resolved before the pending charge goes through.  I can not find a link to contact someone in regards to the fraudulant charge.  I also cannot look up what was charged to my debit card as I do not have an order number.  I would like to get this taken care of as quickly as possible as I can not contact my bank until tomorrow morning.

Re: Fraudulent Charge

Sticky topic explaining this very issue:

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/BestBuy-com/Help-with-Unauthorized-Orders-on-BestBuy-com/td-p/1059073

It lists all the steps you should follow.  After you have notified your card company and local law enforcement, you can notify 1-888-BestBuy of the fraudulent charge.  There is no guarantee that an order will be canceled, especially if the order was already picked up or delivered.  Most of these scams work off of a narrow window of time that prevents cancellation.  If you've already contacted all of the above, you will likely not hear back from Best Buy.  Here is a direct quote from the link above.

Please note:

  • Best Buy will generally not reach out to you after the incident is reported, however Best Buy will cooperate with the authorities in their investigations
  • If you need more information about your situation, please contact your local police or credit card company for an update on their investigation

That doesn't mean that they haven't done anything.  At that point, you should be in contact with your card company and local law enforcement for updates.  This is because Best Buy is not in a position to enforce the law for crimes, nor does Best Buy administer your card's fraud protection.

Re: Fraudulent Charge

I spoke with a bestbuy rep. She was very helpful. They had already flagged it since it was from New Jersey and I’m from Texas. Thank goodness. I hope anyone else with this issue had the same outcome as me!
