FRAUDULENT purchases for AirPods from my Best Buy account

At least 8 FRAUDULENT purchases for AirPods were made on my Best Buy account May 17, 2020, to be sent to a different individual in Texas.  I live in North Carolina.  I do not know the people who ordered them and have no association with the address.

 

The last four digits of the credit card numbers reported to have been used are not the numbers on my credit card.  Supposedly they are Visa Cards but it is not mine. 

 

I cannot get through to BestBuy's fraud department. 

I have called seven TIMES and been disconnected every time after trying to hold on for a three hour wait.

 

When I received the notifications by email of the purchases, I logged into bestbuy immediately while I was holding onto bestbuy's 800 number to report the fraud. Some of the orders have already been delivered in Texas. 

 

I have NOT purchased anything from Best Buy since January 23, 2020

 

You are on the hook for this as I have done my due diligence in trying to contact Best Buy.

Will anyone from Best Buy respond to this. There is no excuse for not being able to get thru to a human.

The moderators are currently working through the customers who are ahead of you.  It appears that the current dates they are answering are around May 12th, so it will likely be several days before they reach your post.

The most important step is ensuring your account is secure.  I personally would recommend enabling two-factor authentication, that way even when your password is hacked they cannot get in without the authentication code.  For your issue, it seems that they have likely utilized credit cards that they have already compromised.  Unfortunately, this is going to limit your ability to report these to the credit card company and will most likely need to be reported by the owner's of the cards.  Best Buy does want notification so they can attempt to stop the packages, but as you have already seen first hand the scammers count on the short turn around time between the order being made and the items being picked up / delivered.  The 1-888-BestBuy remains the best way to notify, and I believe the moderators aren't able to assist with these issues.  Unfortunately, with the extra phone traffic due to the COVID-19 store closures has the hours of operation limited and the wait time to be extended.

I have already changed the password and enabled the two factor authorization. I would have Thought the order department would have caught multiple orders for the exact same item on the same day and shipped to a totally different address than mine. Poor oversight from Best Buy.

The 800 number has up to a two to three hour wait. That is not acceptable.

Well another set of Airpods have been dilivered to a fake address using my Best Buy account. I believe that is now 8 pairs that have been delivered to this same address. You would think someone at Best Buy would want to stop this.
