Delayed order, cannot cancel

Ordered 6/27 at 5:30pm from the website and it showed that it could be delivered by end of day 6/28.  Six hours later, I get the order delayed.  The email said they would keep trying until 7/27.    So I went into the store, bought the same thing (because they actually had it) and went to the Customer Service desk to cancel the order.   They couldn't do it, so I called BB Customer Service and was told they couldn't do it, since a tracking number had been generated.   Funny thing is, the order still shows delayed and no new emails.  

 

So it hasn't shipped or even in the warehouse, so why can't I cancel it?    

 

I was told I had to wait until it does show up or wait until 7/27 when it gets automatically cancel.

I would be happy to take a look into the status of your order and cancel it if that is an available option. So that I can, could you send us over a private message with your order number, phone number, full name, and email?

I'm in the exact same boat. I ordered a tablet that was supposed to be here in 2 days. I got an emailed that stating that it would be delayed by a month. I chatted with a rep who said that they would cancel the online order if I was willing to drive to the store and buy the tablet there, so I did. After about 10 hours, I went into my account and noticed that the online order had not been cancelled, so again I went onto the chat, where I was told that the first rep tried to cancel the order, but was unable (but didn't bother to follow up with me). The 2nd rep said that there's nothing they can do, and that I have to wait until the item is shipped to me, when I can return it to the store, or refuse it with the carrier. 

It just seems kind of silly.

Update to my order, a couple of minutes ago I got an email saying that my order has been shipped. I clicked on the tracking link, and UPS says that it is here in my city, and out for delivery. 

What the heck is going on around here? If they had told me that the tablet would only be a day late, this whole stupid situation could have been avoided.
