Delayed and not listed as Backorderd or Unavaiable to begin with

I made a purchace of a Polar M600 smartwatch a few weeks ago.  I was excited to get it in time to train and use for a 5K that I just ran this past weekend.  Unfortunatnly, the watch never came.  I got a message that the item had changed to "Delayed".  That is understandable.  Sometimes, ordering systems aren't perfect and things get delayed.


What really is agrivating me now though, is it does not appear that Best Buy actually sells this item or has any plans to get the item in the future.  I've been going on the website just about every day for the past 2 weeks, and each day, it says "Get it by XX", which is always 7 business days in the future.  I'm pretty sure that I'll get to the end of my 30-day waiting period and then the order will be cancelled and I'll be refunded.


The joke's on me though.  I paid for this partially with gift cards that I got from work.  I was given the choice of a number of different gift cards (100+ retailers) that I could choose from, and Best Buy happened to be the first one that I saw that had this particular item.  So, I choose that gift card.  I'm pretty sure that I'll be refunded a Best Buy gift card (I completly understand that) for the gift cards I used, but I really don't want anything else from Best Buy.  Best Buy just happened to be the retailer that I came across first.  Now, I'm going to be stuck with a few hundered dollars in a gift card that I can't really use.


I am just fustrated that it wasn't listed as Backordered or Unavaiable when I placed the order (and even more so now, for anyone else looking to get this item), since it appears pretty obvious that there are not any in-stock or any plans to stock the item.  It's not really fair to your customers to have something that they order but that you cannot provide.

I’d very much like to take a look at your order to see if I can get any updates on it. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to procure one to fulfil your order. To answer your question, if the order does end up getting canceled the funds would be returned to the original means of purchase. That means that your gift cards would be refunded. If the order does get canceled, however, I’ll be happy to try to help you find another product that may fit your needs.
