Delayed RTX 3090 Order

I ordered a RTX 3080 on the 28th during one of the few windows it has been in stock.

It was supposed to be ready for pickup today, however, at around 5:10pm I got a notice that my card had been declined, followed by multiple calls from my credit card company.  For some reason, Best Buy tried to recharge my card and it set off a fraud alert.

I promptly replace my payment info and after several tried got the card to go through.

However several hours later I got an email that my order was delayed and it would be canceled if it didn't arrive in 10 days.

I am an elite plus member and this is a very hard to get item.  There has to be some way to let me know what the heck happened to my order and why it's delayed.  I've been trying for over a month to get this item and if it's just going to get canceled in 10 days I'd like to start looking again.

Re: Delayed RTX 3090 Order

On the 28th, your card had an pre-authorization applied to validate the card.  Based on what your post says it sounds like this is what happened, when they tried to apply the final charge (which happens at the time of shipping) your card was declined.  They were unable to complete the charge and moved on.  When you updated your payment, they tried again to ship the product but there was no longer any available. That's when you got the delayed email.  They will continue to attempt to source the product, and if one becomes available you will get an updated notification and shipping information.

Re: Delayed RTX 3090 Order

Well the email said they would hold the product for 24 hours.  So if that's the case then the email lied?

Re: Delayed RTX 3090 Order

we're unable to process your payment.

But don't worry—we'll hold your items for 24 hours so you can review and update your payment information to resolve the issue. Please don't delay or we will have to cancel your order and release the product.

If you update the current payment information used for this order, please make sure you enter the information carefully.

To modify the original payment details used for your order, or to enter a new credit card for payment, click on the "Update Payment Info" button.

Re: Delayed RTX 3090 Order

Emails are not personalize and handwritten, the are auto-generated when your order is in a certain status. Since it’s auto-generated, emails do not “lie”. It simply tries to inform you on the status of your order to keep you informed. Depending on where the product was being sourced from, it is possible that the item was not able to be “held” so to speak. That email wording sounds like the process when the item is sitting in one of our stores or warehouses. We also source items that are shipped directly to you via 3rd parties and even direct from the manufacturer in some instances. I would assume either of these would simply move on to the next order on the list as opposed to sitting on an item.

No matter the situation, as one becomes available it will ship to you and you will receive an update when that happens.

Re: Delayed RTX 3090 Order

Thankfully in this case the email meant what it said.

I got the email to pick up the card  the next day at my local Best Buy.
