I went to Best Buy to get my phone fixed. They told me I could get a free phone... so why not? I get the phone... it's not free...
I get home scratching my head figuring maybe I don't understand.. I don't even like this phone it's smaller than my original. So I go back the next day to return the phone and switch back to my original so that I can get my money back.
I'm charged a 45 dollar restocking fee. They give me a reciept for 7 cents. I literally beg the manager to refund the money as it's not mine to spend. He refuses.
This will be the last time I ever purchase anything from Best Buy ever again.

restocking fees are so absurd you SHOULD NOT be charging your customers to put items back on the shelves it's ridicoulous

It's clearly outlined in the terms and conditions of the Return and Exchange policy. By shopping at Best Buy you agree to all the terms and conditions.
So you did shop there and were charged a restocking fee. You accepted the risk. Best Buy is not at fault.

i would have just kept the phone if i'd known i'd be charged anyway!! none of it was explained to me

huh... somehow my posts aren't going through we'll try this again:
as i said, it sure doesn't feel like my fault. the "risk" i was taking was not adequately conveyed.
describing doing business with best buy as doing it "at your own risk" doesn't sound very good for best buy.
but... you're right. work with best buy at your own peril.

I certainly understand your concerns regarding the restocking fee. As others have said, certain products do have restocking fees when returned. More information can be found by visiting our Return & Exchange Promise page.
With that being said, I'd like to look into this further for you. Please send me a private message with the following, and I'll see what options there may be, if any:
