Charged a Restocking Fee?

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I refused delivery on a brand new camera I ordered from Best Buy (Store Order Number: {removed per forum guidelines}. When I check the return receipt, it states I was charged a restocking fee. The website policy states "There is no restocking fee if the product is unopened". The tracking number showcasing delivery refusal is {removed per forum guidelines}

Can someone assist? Thank you!

Re: Charged a Restocking Fee?

In the return policy it does indicate there is a restocking fee for

Drones, DSLR cameras and lenses, mirrorless cameras and lenses, leg and body recovery systems, premium camcorders, projectors, projector screens, and special-order products

15% of item purchase price

Re: Charged a Restocking Fee?

Hello, ASanders,

Welcome back to the Best Buy Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to write us about your online purchase and shipment refusal. Regarding our Return & Exchange Promise restocking fee, you and bobberuchi are both correct. Drones, DSLR cameras and lenses, mirrorless cameras and lenses, leg and body recovery systems, premium camcorders, projectors, projector screens, and special-order products do have a 15% restocking fee. However, there is no restocking fee if the product is unopened or if the purchase and the return both occur within: AL, CO, HI, IA, MS, OH, OK, SC, and where prohibited by law.

Although I won't promise a different outcome, I'd like to look into this further for you. Please, send me a private message with the order number, full name, phone number, and e-mail address. To send it, click on the blue "Private Message" button next to my signature. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards,

Re: Charged a Restocking Fee?

I guess I don't understand why a different outcome can't be promised. The tracking number states I clearly refused delivery of the item, and in order for UPS to accept a refusal the box cannot be opened or even touched by the customer. I don't understand how this cannot be considered as "unopened" in Best Buy terms.

Re: Charged a Restocking Fee?

Right, but I refused delivery so its considered unopened.
