Charged Twice for an online order

I have read several posts about being charged twice. Those posts appear to reference several different payment methods. However, they all have the same complaint. Customers are being "charged" twice for online orders. One thing I have noticed, is when an online order contains both an in store pickup and a shipment, the store pickup charges clear and post while the full pending charges remain to be posted by the financial insitution.

Essentially, there appears to be an issue with how Bestbuy is running the transaction. In my most recent experience, there is a pending hold for Bestbuy from a recent online order I made in the amount of $884.18, but that same online order seems to have partially cleared and withdrawn funds from my account already. Part of the order was fulfilled and picked up at the store and the remainder is being shipped in two separate shipments.

Why is it that I have a "pending" hold of $884.18, while also being charged $361.35, $206.28, $201.97, $95.01 and still pending to post is $19.57, for the individual parts of the order? This made me -$661.16 in my account because of the charges which have cleared ON TOP OF the pending amount waiting to "drop off" as I have seen be mentioned. This is VERY inconvenient, and I believe it has EVERYTHING to do with how Bestbuy is handling the transaction charges. Does Bestbuy think this is not a big enough deal to fix? I could understand some customers not making a big fuss as they are only out an extra few bucks on small orders. However, in my case, this made me go NEGATIVE as I didn't have $1,768.36 in my account to cover the pending hold and cleared charges. Get it together Bestbuy! This is not an issue on how financial institutions handle the transaction. It is on YOUR process of how you are billing the customers.

This is now the SECOND time this has happened with an online purchase from Bestbuy that resulted in part of the order being fulfilled at the store, while the remainder of the order was being shipped, causing a "double charge" to my account.

Re: Charged Twice for an online order

Hey, Vanquisher,

Welcome to the forums! As someone on a budget, I get a bit disappointing when I see temporary authorizations on my account as well. I'm not the biggest fan of having money tied up like that in some cases.

I appreciate that you took the time to write this. We love feedback like this here at our corporate office.

It sounds like you're aware that the transactions you see are likely just authorizations, but if you do have any specific questions about and order, I'd be happy to take a look. I would just ask that you send me a private message with your order information so that I can access the transaction history.

Thanks again for sharing this and for being our customer.

Best,

Re: Charged Twice for an online order

Hi Luke,

I have sent you a PM with my order information to lookup.

Your comment of "It sounds like you're aware that the transactions you see are likely just authorizations," doesn't really address my point.

They are not "likely just authorizations", they are actual cleared/posted transactions. To me, the proper way to do this would be to just charge the full order amount and let that post. Not reissue, what appears to look like, an additional charge to my account which posts right away. All while the pending authorization is holding my funds hostage.

Hey, Vanquisher,

I understand where you're coming from definitely hear you on that feedback. I appreciate that you shared it with us. I hope my private message at least clears up the situation a bit as far as what you were ultimately charged.

Best,
