Cannot Order Online

I am having the same issues as so many others in trying to make a purchase online with my new Best Buy credit card. On August 29, I was shopping online for a tv. I found a good deal on Best Buys site, and applied for credit. I saw no disclaimer that my first purchase would br required to be made in store or that I would not be able to make purchases online. I verified all of my information with a customer service rep upon my approval, and she told me that I could immediately use the credit line. I have made SEVERAL separate attempts to buy a tv online, even having done so while on the phone with Best Buy and Citi reps. Each time I place the order, I get a text within a minute saying the order is CANCELLED. Reason: UNABLE TO VERIFY INFORMATION. I have made multiple attempts talking to Best Buy customer service as well as calling the Best Buy credit card department. Both departments tell me that everything is in order. I have spent 5 hours on calls with over a dozen different people who can only suggest that I go into the store. I am a full time college student and work full time. I did go to a local store and explained my situation. The lady there used my card and pulled up all of my info and said it should work. I have updated my account info on the Best Buy website as well.

I tried ordering again with the same result. At my wits end, I bought a tv online from Wal-Mart and received it two days later.

I am beyond frustrated and disappointed. I cannot utilize a credit line for which I was approved and is now on my credit report. If I cancel the account, my credit score will be negatively affected. I'm shocked by the company's inability to help me. Ive offered to send a copy of my ID to Citi, and I was told that there is no problem with my account?! PLEASE HELP! I'm relived to have found this forum, because I've seen that many people who have experienced this problem have found resolution.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out on the Best Buy forum and welcome to our community! The My Best Buy Credit Card can be a great way for customers to take advantage of deals on computers, TVs, appliances, and any number of awesome products that we sell at our stores and online. It should be an easy process to get started and what you describe with multiple cancellations certainly isn’t what we want for our customers.

 

I see that you have also sent one of our other moderators a private message which included some additional information for us to look into your particular situation. With review, it appears that any issues surrounding your ability to place orders have been resolved. Though you had already purchased a TV from another retailer by the time this happened, I see that you have been able to successfully place a different order for an appliance which is currently scheduled for delivery later this week.
