Best Buy keeping my money without product

I purchased a prebuilt computer from Best Buy and in the first 6 months the computer died. Best Buy geek squad without my knowledge sent the PC to one of their off location repair sites. It was only after waiting 3 weeks that I called the number in one of my emails telling me the computer was on its way back to the store I purchased it. The Best Buy junked it and gave me in store credit. Employees told me if I found something in their store they would exchange it but they didn’t have any computers in store. I went on the Best Buy website in order to find a computer I wanted and most that were comperabke to mine were not available so I put a few on a watchlist to notify me when the computers were available. When I received the email notifying me one of the computers I wanted was available I placed the order with my Best Buy gift card plus $500 more dollars. I waited two weeks for the computer to come in and then when the app notified me my computer was ready to pick up the store employees let me know that the computer was on back order and they did. It know when it would be available. I waited another week and then the order disappeared from my o r see history and an email was issued to me stating that the item was delayed too long and that my money would be credited to me. The $500 dollars went back into personal checking account but the Best Buy in store credit was no where to be found. I went into the store where I had purchased the original computer from and the store employees now told me that the credits could not be exchanged in store that I would have to request them from Best Buy.com. I contacted Best Buy.com customer service to get my credits which were supposed to be sent to me within 24-36 hours. It’s now almost 72 hours and I still have not reviewed credit. I have talked to 2 geek squad members, 3 in store employees, 2 managers, spent 4 hours on the phone with Best Buy.com representatives in a general call cents and spoke with 5 different Best Buy departments including a citi bank employee after I was wrongfully transferred and hung up on. I am going on almost 3 months worth of trying to PURCHASE a computer and Best Buy is holding onto $1555 dollars of in store credit. I can’t even get my money back or a product at this point. This is the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

It’s actually funny you mentioned that as I am currently working on a claim with the BBB. Great suggestion and I appreciate the comment

Re: Best Buy keeping my money without product

Hey, Quicken2k2,

Thanks for reaching out to us on the Forums about this. I'm sorry to hear your computer wasn't able to be repaired, but glad that we were able to provide store credit instead. Further, I can imagine your disappointment when your order for a comparable computer was cancelled due to lack of stock.

It sounds like your refund for this order was not properly credited back to the gift card you were issued. It also sounds like you have gone through several different avenues for support over several different dates, and I apologize for any inconvenience here. This doesn't sound like the service that we strive for, and I appreciate you reaching out here on the Forums so that I can help.

So that I can take a closer look into this, please send us a private message with your full name, email, and phone number and I can get started right away.

Best,
