Best Buy Refund with Virtual Card

Hello, I recently bought an Oculus Quest for my friend. I was using a virtual card for the purchase. The virtual card comes from a service called Privacy.com. It was declined a few days after the order was made. So my friend had to pay for the Oculus Quest. Here comes the strange part, on my account for the virtual card, it says it was refunded, but my bank account still says it is pending the transaction. Even stranger is that the order on best buy says that the virtual card was charged 0.00 when on my bank statement it says there is a pending charge.

I tried to get into touch with some best buy reps and they are confused, so I was hoping someone on here would give me clarification. Do I need to wait for the pending transaction will it be reversed? Do refunds to cards usually take a week? If so I can wait. I am just worried that I am going to be charged as well, even though he ended up paying.

Every time you turn around, there seems to be another payment option available to people needing it.  I’ m glad that this virtual card was available to help you place an order on BestBuy.com, but it sounds like there may be some confusion around what happens with it if your order is cancelled.

 

In general, with any kind of credit card payment, your order is only authorized to begin with, and if you order is cancelled, it’s simply a matter of the authorization dropping off after a few business days.  However, once you get into the area of virtual type currency like this, it might be a bit murky.

 

If you haven’t done so yet, I’d contact whomever provided the virtual card to see information they can provide about the transaction.  Otherwise, I can try to look at your order to see if I can provide more information, but I can’t guarantee any particular outcome.
