A lost package to show how worse the after-sales service is

I ordered a laptop from with the price of $849.99 at the beginning of 2021. However, when the package was delivered, I received an empty box instead. I connected with the carrier immediately. The carrier admitted that the package was lost and promised to compensate for this case. To accomplish this compensation, the carrier needed a document reply from Bestbuy. Since four months have passed, I even couldn't remember how many phone calls I gave to Bestbuy, I got every document Bestbuy required include the police report. The result I got was they refused to solve this problem and asked me to contact the carrier, the reply from them like a repeater. But the carrier can't finish the compensation without the document reply from Bestbuy, no matter how many times I told Bestbuy I only need a document reply.

What I want is a document reply and my money back. I wonder if they are dealing with the problem really. This kind of thing can't be handled well, how can we continue shopping here at ease.
