2-Step Text Message Verification Login Issue

To whom it may concern,

 

I was making some updates to my account tonight and saw that a 2-step verification option existed. I thought it would be wise to add it to my account and even recieved two text verifications throughout the night when making changes to my account.

 

I am now not recieving a single verification text.

 

I can no longer sign into my account even though the login prompt claims to have sent a verification code to my phone number. I have tried hitting the resend verification code and have had no luck!

 

I did not save off the backup codes.. I have never had an issue with just not being sent a verification message.. I haven't lost my phone or changed phone numbers so I don't understand why this is an issue.

Welcome to our forums! 2-step verification should make your account safer, so I can understand your concern when you no longer receive notifications.

I’ll be happy to take a closer look into this matter and offer any additional assistance I can, however, I’m hoping you can provide me with a few pieces of additional information before I’m able to do so.  If you could use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature to send me:

 

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address

 

This should be enough for me to begin my research, and hopefully get you the assistance you’re looking for.

FYI: BestBuy is notorious for insufficient and antiquated sign-in services. Feel free to peruse their Support blogs here. Since last week, I've been unable to log in to my account to access receipts, rewards, and make online purchases. And this is the second time I've experience this along with countless others. Each time a customer posts here, their gaslit to think the issue is caused by them or asked to provide their contact info privately to their Social Media/PR to avoid more posted complaints. I was informed my phone number was found on multiple accounts and could be merged. I’m unsure how that occurred.

Anyways I was told 24 hours for the merge and so far with only 6 hours in, I can confirm it still isn’t providing me with a 2FA 6 digit code even though it says it’s sending to my number.

Going to give it more time and plan to update this post and contact Aaron thay I am still having issues.

9 hours has now passed and I was able to sign in successfully!

 

Solution is to have BestBuy support merge any duplicate accounts and give it some time to "sync up" and you should recieve your 2-Step texts again.
