complaint about in store credit for return

At the beginning of the year, I purchased a computer modem and then had to return it a few days later.  I was told I would be given an in store credit for the amount.  The store on Maryland Paerkway in Las Vegas did not have any gift cards and told me I could just present my receipt to ust the available funds.  I chose several DVDs, but still had a credit of $7.54.  I was unable to come back till 8 months later because my husband lost his job and we have not had the money for extra purchases till now.  I was told they could not help me without the card and they acted like I was lying about not receiving a card.  I can understand that store policies have to be followed, but I did not appreciate being talked to the way I was.  They acted like they really didn't care if they lost my business or not.  Now, a couple of days later, my husband and I will be purchasing a washer and I have no plans of even looking in a Best Buy because of this negative experience.I had.  I have always thought of Best Buy has a store with reasonable prices and great customer service, but no longer feel that way.

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for reaching out to us here regarding your store credit! While we always hope purchases work out for our customers, we understand that's not always the case. In some cases, we may offer a store credit for a return. It sounds like this may have been the case during your return of the modem, and that you purchased several movies in the same transaction. The remainder of the store credit should have been provided on a gift card, but without this, it resulted in your recent experience. I apologize for any trouble you may have had, as this is far from the experience we want for our customers.
