Personally when I have had issues with staff in any store that I feel is worth commenting on generally go direct to that store manager.
Actually I would suspect they didn't want to discuss trade offs because they didn't know.
I recenly purchased a full frame DSLR and I simply had to do a lot of independent research. But that is typical for me.
